Grace Before has no account. What you share stays on your iPhone, except what’s needed to write a personalized prayer.

No account

No sign-up, no email, no password. We don’t know who you are.

Kept on your iPhone

Your name, check-ins, prayers, history and chosen apps never leave it.

Three answers, if you choose

Personalized prayers send today’s mood, topic and your words. Nothing else.

No ads, no tracking

No advertising, no analytics on what you write, and nothing is sold.

Who we are

Grace Before is an iPhone app that pauses the apps you choose until you’ve prayed. It is made and provided by its developer, an individual (“Grace Before”, “we”, “us”). This policy covers the app and this website.

Questions about privacy go to support@gracebefore.app.

What stays on your iPhone

Grace Before saves these on your phone and nowhere else:

  • your first name and your answers to the welcome questions
  • your daily check-ins: mood, topic and any words you add
  • your prayers, history, streak and weekly progress
  • your prayer times, the apps you chose to pause, reminder choices and preferences such as reading size

The app may also keep simple milestones on your phone, such as finishing setup or a first prayer, beside a random ID. They never include your words, answers, prayers or chosen apps.

There is no cloud copy. Grace Before asks your iPhone to leave its data out of iCloud and computer backups. If you delete the app or its data, or move to a new phone, your prayers and history can’t be recovered.

Screen Time

Prayer pauses use Apple’s Screen Time. You pick apps in Apple’s own picker, and your iPhone gives Grace Before private tokens that stand for them. We never receive the list of apps you chose, and Grace Before doesn’t read how long you use any app.

Reminders

Prayer and trial-ending reminders are scheduled on your iPhone with fixed wording. They never contain your words or prayers, and they aren’t sent from a server.

What leaves your iPhone, and when

When you ask for a personalized prayer

Personalized prayers are written by AI and are off until you turn them on. When they’re on and you ask for a prayer, the app sends today’s mood, today’s topic and any words you add to Grace Before’s prayer service. The service confirms your subscription, then passes only those three answers to an AI model to write the prayer.

Your words are sent as you wrote them, so leave out names or details you’d rather not share. Your name, your chosen apps, your history and your purchase details are never sent to an AI service.

General prayers are always available and send nothing.

To confirm the request is genuine

Because there’s no account, each request is signed with Apple’s app check for your iPhone and carries your App Store transaction. This lets the prayer service confirm the request comes from Grace Before and belongs to an active subscription. These go to the prayer service only, never to an AI service.

When you subscribe

Subscriptions are bought and billed by Apple. We never see your card or payment details. To confirm your plan without an account, Grace Before uses RevenueCat, which receives a random ID made on your phone, your App Store purchase records and basic app and device details, such as app version, country and iOS version.

When you write to us

If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us, and use it only to answer you.

As with any internet service, the companies below see your IP address when the app connects to them.

Who receives it

We share information only with the services that make the app work, and only what each one needs.

AppleSells and bills your subscription, runs Screen Time and delivers the app. Apple’s privacy policy applies to what Apple holds.

RevenueCatConfirms your subscription. Receives a random ID, purchase records and basic app and device details. Never your name, answers, check-ins, prayers or chosen apps.

CloudflareHosts Grace Before’s prayer service, which checks each request and counts the daily limit.

OpenRouter and Microsoft AzureThe main route for writing personalized prayers, using an OpenAI model served by Microsoft Azure. They receive your three answers and nothing that identifies you.

Google (Gemini API)A backup. If the main route can’t answer, the prayer service may send the same three answers to Google once, so you still receive a prayer.

The app names the current AI models under Settings → Privacy. Turning on personalized prayers agrees to both AI routes. If we add or change an AI provider, the app asks you again before sending anything to it.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it. Because we hold so little, there is rarely anything to give.

How long it’s kept

  • On your iPhone: until you delete it, or delete the app.
  • Prayer service: it stores no prayers and none of your words. For about three days it keeps a coded record of each request (a random ID, a coded subscription reference, the time and the result) to apply the daily limit. It keeps your phone’s app-check key until it has gone unused for six months.
  • Main AI route: requests are sent with OpenRouter’s data-collection opt-out and zero-data-retention routing.
  • Google backup: Google doesn’t use these requests to improve its products and request logging is off, but Google keeps requests for a limited time to detect misuse.
  • Purchases: Apple and RevenueCat keep purchase records under their own policies.
  • Support email: kept for as long as it’s needed to help you and to keep a record of what we answered.

Cloudflare, OpenRouter, Microsoft and Google still process the requests they receive and keep their own operational records, so we don’t promise that nothing is ever kept.

What we never do

  • We don’t sell or rent your information.
  • We don’t show ads or share information with advertisers.
  • We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
  • We don’t put your words or prayers in analytics, crash reports or notifications, and we don’t record your screen.
  • We don’t build a profile of your faith, your feelings or your phone use.

Your choices

  • Personalized prayers: turn them on or off anytime in Settings. With them off, nothing you write leaves your phone.
  • Prayer pauses: change or release your apps in Pauses, or switch off Grace Before’s Screen Time access in iPhone Settings.
  • Reminders: turn them off in the app or in iPhone Settings → Notifications.
  • Subscription: manage or cancel in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

Deleting your data

Open Settings → Privacy → Delete all app data. This permanently removes everything Grace Before keeps on your phone: your name and answers, check-ins and your words, prayers and progress, prayer times, chosen apps, reminders and preferences. It also releases any apps Grace Before paused and cancels its reminders. Deleting the app removes this data too.

Deleting your data doesn’t cancel your subscription. Cancel it separately in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Restoring a purchase later brings back access, not deleted prayers.

There is no account to delete. The coded request records on the prayer service expire on their own after about three days, and we can’t match them to a person.

Faith and personal words

A prayer app is personal by nature. What you write in a check-in may say something about your beliefs, your health or the people you love. That is why it stays on your phone, why personalized prayers are a choice, and why only today’s three answers are ever sent.

If your words suggest you may be in immediate danger, the app shows support information instead of a prayer. That moment isn’t saved to your history, and the prayer service keeps none of your words.

Children

Grace Before is made for adults. It isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we’ll delete what we can find.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or limit its use, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Where the law asks for a reason, we rely on your consent for personalized prayers, and on what’s needed to provide the subscription you bought and to protect the service from misuse.

Most of what Grace Before knows about you is on your own phone, where you can see and delete it yourself. To ask about anything else, email support@gracebefore.app. We can’t look you up by name, because we don’t have it.

The services above may process information in the United States and other countries.

This website

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. It loads a font from Google Fonts and icons from jsDelivr, and those companies, like our web host, see your IP address and may keep standard server logs.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what leaves your phone, the app will tell you and ask again before sending anything new.
